In the app, the Circles feature breaks down your team’s scores, risk levels, event details, and Playlist items to show where they may need to improve. Your Dashboard is interactive, allowing you to tap your information to see more details with tips to continuously improve.
You will also have a dynamic Playlist that responds to individual driving behaviors (if using Mentor Business) and risk levels. For this reason, drivers on your team will have a Playlist that is custom to them.
Managers may also have access to additional features — including the Manager Coaching Toolkit* and My Work Team — Manager Circles* — to help guide and stay connected to their drivers.

Mentor Business
The Mentor Business app allows you to see a clear snapshot of your drivers and their telematics data so you can decide where you want to focus.
Through telematics, Mentor can show how each behavior contributes to a driver’s safety. Trip maps are available for drivers to pinpoint where and when a safe or unsafe behavior was logged on their trip. Although managers can see a driver’s risky behaviors, they will not be able to see a driver’s specific location because Mentor is NOT a location tracker. Instead, Mentor analyzes driving data to adjust attitudes and behaviors through specific feedback and customized learning.
Mentor Dashboard Features:
- Trips, Miles / KM, Hours: View your total Trips taken, Miles / KM driven, and Hours traveled.
- Driving scores: Can include the FICO Safe Driving Score that helps identify drivers most likely to be involved in a future incident or collision. These scores can help managers provide effective coaching and support.
- Behavior / Event Ribbon: Encourage your drivers to check in with their ribbon often to see more information and tips on how they can improve.
- Playlist: View your Playlist items to continuously expand your knowledge, adjust your attitude, and adopt safe behaviors. Support your drivers by giving them time to complete their training modules and discussing best practices you’ve learned in your completed modules.
- Circles*: Connect with other drivers and share safe driving accountability to support a Crash-Free Culture.
- Vehicle Inspection*: Tap to complete a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.
- Rewards*: See your current points accumulated.
Along the bottom, the navigation bar shows options for the following:
- Dashboard: Provides a snapshot of your driving data.
- Trips: Displays specific trip details with individual driving behaviors labeled for each trip. Remind drivers to check in here often so they can review their trips and adjust the Driver settings if needed (can only be changed up to 7 days after a trip has been completed).
- Playlist: Shows new and completed training.
- Trends: Gives you an overview of your driving performance over time. This resource can give drivers a quick and easy way to review and filter their data to see areas of opportunity.
- More: Allows you to adjust your profile and app settings and connects you to support contacts, guides and FAQ documents, and the privacy notice.
Detailed Driver View
Once drivers are added to your Circle, you can share driving information. All drivers who have Circles will see a My Work Team Circle, and as a manager, you should also have access to My Work Team — Manager, which provides you with additional manager tools.
For managers, you can select your team’s Circle to see your drivers’ ratings and scores. On the first tab, you will see a list of your team’s drivers and their scores.
Tap on a driver to see more information, including their FICO Safe Driving Score, DriverINDEX® score, and / or Company Points; individual risk ratings; total Trips, Miles / KM driven, and Hours driven, if applicable; and outstanding Playlist and Coaching items.
The second tab is where you can send Circles messages. You can message the entire team or an individual driver to encourage and support your organization’s safe-driving goals.
Mentor will also assign scores and risk ratings to your drivers. As Mentor learns about your drivers’ patterns, it will highlight risks and overall safety based on reported data (non-telematics historical data and / or through telematics trip performance data). Your team’s scores and ratings will help you determine how to focus your coaching and support efforts to assist drivers as they work to improve their performance.
DriverINDEX
Drivers may be assigned a DriverINDEX score that assesses collision risk by combining data from a driver’s reported incidents, collisions, license violations, RoadRISK rating, and any available telematics data inside Mentor or collected from an external source (if used by your company). It also breaks each score into individual aspects so managers can pinpoint specific areas of improvement.
To support your drivers, tap your team’s Circle, then tap the desired driver to see their score, risk ratings, and assigned Playlist and Coaching items.
Your company may also use Company Points to set benchmarks and monitor safety and compliance based on specific organization goals.
FICO Safe Driving Score
Drivers who use the Mentor Business app will be assigned a FICO Safe Driving Score. This score is a 7-day rolling average that indicates a driver’s risk level and likelihood of being involved in a future collision.
A FICO Safe Driving Score at or above 710 represents Low- and Very Low-Risk ratings. Drivers at these levels are 30% less likely to be involved in a future collision as compared to drivers who maintain Medium-, High-, or Very High-Risk scores.
Note: The FICO Safe Driving score has no affiliation with the FICO Credit Score. Only driver behaviors are used in the FICO Safe Driving Score calculation — no credit data is used in compiling the score.
To support your team’s drivers, stay connected to your team’s data, including their FICO Safe Driving Score, DriverINDEX score, and / or Company Points. Also, check in with their risk ratings — which may include Acceleration, Braking, Cornering, Distraction, Speeding, collisions, incidents, and violations. You can also see items that need to be completed in their Playlist and in their Coaching toolkit.
Manager Coaching Toolkit*
The Manager Coaching Toolkit* is a feature that allows you to engage with your team and provide supplemental coaching to drivers in need. Engaging and encouraging drivers is essential to creating a Crash-Free Culture.
As Mentor learns about your team’s driving habits (including collision history, risk assessments, and behaviors or events), it will start to assign courses and Coaching sessions to reduce collision risks. Drivers in the Very High- and High-Risk categories will receive more training to support their continued improvement. Drivers with Very Low- and Low-Risk ratings will receive training less frequently to support their safe driving habits.
A high-risk driver will likely also need additional support through Coaching. You can find these suggested modules in the Coaching section of your app. These sessions are meant to foster communication and collaboration to adjust attitudes and form safe behaviors.
Coaching sessions typically last 15–20 minutes. Managers can prepare for the session by viewing Trends, checking in with behaviors or events, and revisiting Trips (if applicable). Encourage safe best practices when you discuss areas of opportunity with any of your drivers. As you use the Coaching template in your session, you will also have the ability to write notes and document your conversation. You can save these as reminders for future sessions and directly see how your intervention is benefiting your team’s safety.
Lastly, be sure to follow up with your drivers. If you have a driver who typically struggles with phone distraction events and you notice an improvement in their Distraction rating, send them an encouraging message through Circles or congratulate them in the next Coaching session. Also know that you may see improvements to a driver’s scores, but they may still have suggested Coaching. This is because safe behaviors and positive attitudes take time to form and often need assistance from managers to become long-term habits.
To access Coaching, tap the box labeled Drivers Requiring Coaching from your Dashboard. You should be able to see the drivers on your team who need your attention. Tap a driver’s profile to see review their score and ratings before your Coaching session. Set aside 15–20 minutes to complete the module together and remember to check in to see if your drivers need additional support.
You can also use your My Work Team — Manager Circle to see all the drivers on your team, their individual scores, and any outstanding Coaching sessions (highlighted in red). Once on a driver’s profile, tap their score and ratings to see more information on their driving and required Coaching.
Coaching modules can have five statuses: Required, In-Progress, Optional, Closed, or Complete.
Your Coaching modules may include the following:
- DriverINDEX — responds to drivers with high-risk scores.
- Post-Collision Coaching — takes place after a driver is involved in a collision.
- OnetoOne — reinforces your company’s Crash-Free Culture®.
* Add-on feature available on some plans.
Circles*
The Circles* feature helps keep you engaged and connected with the drivers on your team. Within the Circles community, you can encourage others and share safe driving accountability.
The My Work Team – Manager Circle is automatically created through your company’s hierarchy so that drivers on your team are assigned to you, their manager. Tap an individual’s name to view their overall driving scores (if sharing is enabled).
Custom Circles can also be created to connect you with other drivers in your company.
