There are a number of settings and permissions required for Mentor to properly record Trips.
APPLE (iOS)
- Enable Motion & Fitness
- Enables Mentor to detect device movement while driving, which could be counted as a Distraction event.
- Allows Mentor to detect driver exiting vehicle/walking away in order to end driving Trip immediately.
- Set Location Services to Always for Mentor
- Your trip route will be visible to you in the app for review and all events will be highlighted for further insight.
- iOS 14 users must also enable Precise Location.
- Enable MobileData
- Once your trip has ended, Mentor will use cellular data to send trip details to the Mentor server to determine Trip score.
ANDROID
- Enable Location Settings
- Allow Mentor to Make and Manage Phone Calls
- Mentor does not track/listen to or read phone calls or text/email messages and cannot access phone numbers or data sent or received. This access enables Mentor to simply detect when a driver initiates an outgoing call, answers an incoming call, or responds to/initiates a text or email message while driving, which could be counted as a Distraction event.
- Allow Mentor to Access Photos, Media and Files on your Device
- Mentor will not access your device photos, but this setting is required for users to add their picture to Circles. Blocking this access will simply mean users cannot add their photo to their Circles in Mentor.
- If you are using the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) function, this setting is required for users to submit photos of vehicle damage, when applicable.
- Disable Power Save/Battery Save for Mentor
Enables Mentor to run in the background to record driving behaviours throughout the day.
