Mentor scores the following driving behaviours: Acceleration, Braking, Cornering, Distraction and Speeding. Each of these contribute to your FICO® Safe Driving Score.
- ACCELERATION – fast starts or harsh accelerating when pressing your accelerator more aggressively.
- BRAKING – typically a result of the driver following too closely, or being distracted and missing signs, lights, exits, or stops, causing them to brake quickly and harshly to avoid a collision.
- CORNERING – taking a corner too quickly, which is especially dangerous in high-profile vehicles.
- DISTRACTION – any interaction with your actual device while the vehicle is moving, including moving or handling your device, making or receiving phone calls, or texting while driving.
- SPEEDING – driving over the posted speed limit.
Your FICO® Safe Driving Score includes the distance and duration of your trip and assesses the total opportunities a driver has to manouevre smoothly and safely and weighs that against the events captured during the trip.
The FICO® Safe Driving Score is a 7-day rolling average weighing the driver’s history of behaviours over the last 7 calendar days to produce a single score. This score is an indication of the driver’s risk level and likelihood of being involved in a future collision.
A FICO® Safe Driving Score at or above 710 represent Low and Very Low Risk ratings. Drivers at these levels are 30% less likely to be involved in a future collision compared to drivers who maintain Medium, High or Very High Risk scores.
